Abstract
13,671. Jenczewsky, A. W. June 14. Actuating valves; safety - valves; lift valves.- Relates to an emergency valve for illuminating- gas mains or other pipes, such as ammonia-supply pipes in refrigerating-apparatus, which is automatically closed in case of fire. The valve C is a plug lift valve and is normally held as shown by a hook F which is secured to a thin metal dome D by solder or other readily fusible metal. When the dome is heated, the metal fuses and the plug falls and closes the pipe line. As shown in Fig. 3, the hook may have a continuation F' projecting out at the top. This may be hit by a hammer as an alternative method of closing the valve. If the valve is not vertical, the plug may be thrown into closing position by a spring.
