Automatic instruments. - In a piano - player operated by compressed air, the primary pneumatics 9 are provided with valves 36 and leather seats 10 so as to reduce leakage through the bleed-holes 24 while the notes are sustained, and to increase the rapidity of the action. The tracker 1 and the tunesheet rollers are enclosed in a wind-chest 2 to which air is supplied at constant high pressure through a trunk 3. The tracker ducts are connected by tubes 8 of rubber, metal, or paper to the primary pneumatics, which are of small air capacity. The striker pneumatics 14 are formed by covering a series of recesses 17 with leather 20 and mounting a board 16 over each recess, and are supplied with air through a trunk 15 at a pressure which can be regulated by means of one or more throttle valves.
