Abstract
8013. Lund, J. April 3. Obstruction-removers.-Motor-cars, omnibuses, &c. are provided with an obstruction-remover consisting of rollers a mounted in front of the vehicle, so that the height of the rollers above the ground is independent of the vibrations of the vehicle body, and rotated from the engine countershaft by chains and sprocket-wheels. The rollers are mounted on a transverse shaft supported from the front axle by bell-crank levers b. The upper ends e of the levers b are connected to rods f by which the height of the rollers a can be adjusted. The rollers a may be arranged in a direction inclined to the centre line of the car or in a V shape or an apron carried by rollers may be used.
