Abstract
1453. Morris, F. Jan. 19. Electric railways and tramways on the overhead-conductor system. Conductors. - Relates to ears or supports for electric trolly wires, of the kind described in Specification No. 9340, A.D. 1904. The support consists of a U-section bar with a central socketpiece A<1> slotted longitudinally at a and having an opening a' to. receive a nut D for securing the stem C of the insulator C'. The nut D is formed with side flanges d at its base on two sides, and projections d' on the other sides of the nut to extend up the outer sides of the ear and relieve them of strain, or a collar may be fitted round the ear for this purpose. The stem C bears on a clamping- bar E resting on the wire, or its end may be in contact with a spring disk F or washer which serves to lock the nut. Wings or eyes e<1> for attachment of anchor wires may be formed on the bar E. When the support is to be used for feeding purposes, it may be provided towards each end with an extension similar to the piece A', and with a bolt bearing on the wire below and connected to the feed-wires above ; or the feed-wires may be attached to eyes on the clamps.
