Abstract

1286. Tilley, R. Jan. 17. Stands for supporting a motor or other bicycle with both wheels clear of the ground or with either the front or the back wheel raised. The cranks being horizontal, the pedals are placed upon blocks 8, 9 at the top of uprights 2, 3, supported by inclined stays 4, 5 and inclined crosspieces 6, 7 from a base 1. To hold the machine with both wheels clear of the ground, a hinged fork-piece 15 is turned up to clip the rear-wheel tyre and rim at 19, whik, by rotation of the bicycle about the axle bearings without release of the clip, the piece 15 may be lowered into the plane of the base and there secured by a cross-pin passed through holes 23, so that the rear wheel is brought down to the ground and the front wheel raised. On release of the clip 19, the bicycle may be turned to bring.the front wheel to a clip 24. As shown in Fig. 6, the clip 19 or 24 comprises a U-piece to one limb of which is hinged a cross-bar 20 having a reduced end 28 adapted to be sprung into a hole 29 or 30. If desired, both ends of the base may have a jointed fork-piece 15.
