Abstract

25,289. Creel, J. H. July 3, [date applied for under Patents Act, 1901]. Rail joints of the tongue - and - recess type. One end of each rail is formed with a projection 14 at its base, shaped as shown in Fig. 2 and provided with a hole 16 adapted to receive a peg 13 in a recess on the adjacent rail end. The recess corresponds in shape to the projection 14, and a transverse bolt 17 is passed through the rail ends when they are in position. The vertical web of each rail is increased in thickness at the joints as shown by dotted lines. The peg 13 may be formed. integral with the rail end, or may.be secured to it by suitable means; in one form shown, the end of the peg screws into a hole in the rail end.
