W a t e r, purifying and softening; liquids, purifying.-Apparatus for adding reagents in definite proportions to water or other liquids consists of a combination of an oscillating bucket A and a quadrant scoop H such as are described respectively in Specifications No. 3731, A.D. 1886, and No. 13,069, A.D. 1901. The spindle D of the bucket A to which the water &c. is supplied carries a spur-wheel or segment E gearing with another G to which the reagent scoop H is attached. Screws K, K<1>, working in brackets J, J<1>, form stops which limit the oscillation of the bucket, and consequently the inclination of the quadrant H, as it delivers into the spout as indicated by the arrow N. The proportions of water &c. and reagent can thus be regulated by means of the screws.
