Abstract
24,779. Cook, A., and Harvey, J. Nov. 30. Saws, sharpening.-Saw-sharpening machines of the vertically-rocking rotary-disk type for band; circular, or other saws have improved. actuating and saw-feed mechanisms allowing adjustment for wear. A cam B mounted on a driven shaft A rocks an arm C<1> carried by an inclined shaft, which also carries a frame E, on which is mounted a grinding-disk F. The disk F is vertically adjusted by a screw El bearing against a stop C' on the rocking arm C<1>. The saw is fed from a countershaft G by a feed-pawl M through an eccentrically adjustable cam drum H and horizontal and vertical levers L,-L<1> mounted on a rocking shaft. A roller J bears against the drum H and is adjusted by a screwed rod K screwing through the weighted lever L. A saw clamp below the grinding-disk consists of a back-plate N and a spring-pressed fence P which holds the saw. For band saws, an adjustable base-plate R is provided as shown in Fig. 4, while for circular saws the fence P is carried at the head of a standard which is clear of the saw as shown in Fig. 5.
