Ornamenting.-Relates to improvements on the inventions described in Specifications No. 3995, A.D. 1905, [Abridgment Class Advertising &c.], and No. 2398, A.D. 1905, [Abridgment Class Toys &c.], and consists in supporting paper, cardboard, or the like letters, numerals, or designs on paper or the like base sheets so that they may be fixed to a display surface in proper alinement. The letter may be provided with projecting pieces b separable by perforations or the like e, the pieces b being inserted in slits c of the base sheet d, the letter a being gummed in front. Or the parts b may also be gummed and may serve to secure the letter a to the sheet d temporarily. Or the parts b maybe gummed on their underside, no slits being used, as shown in Fig. 2. Or narrow strips f may be passed over the letter and may be gummed to the base sheet d, Fig. 3, or passed through slits c therein, Fig. 4. Or strips g forming a part of the sheet d may be cut so that the letter may be held beneath them, Fig. 5. Or flits h may be made in the sheet d and the letter be held in them, Fig 6. The letters a may be of metal foil or other suitable material, or may be used as supports for gold or other metallic leaf. Several letters may be supported by one base sheet. According to the Provisional Specification, instead of the strips b forming part of the letter, they may be gummed thereto.
