Shuttlecoc k s; badminton.- Shuttlecocks for badminton &c. are constructed with bases 1, Fig. 1, moulded u n d e r pressure from millboard, in order to prevent deformation of the base under a blow &c., and to obviate the use of the kid covering used with cork bases. The moulded base is oiled, baked, and varnished. The base 1 is formed with a recess 2, which receives a notched disk 3, Figs. 1 and 2, secured in place by glue. The disk 3 is preferably of millboard, and has notches 5 in its edge to receive the ends 6 of the feathers, the ends being connected together by stringing as usual.
