Abstract
21,510. Cobham, E. C., and Pavis, J. P. Oct. 23. Tubular valves; plug cocks.-In the lighting of trains and the like by means of incandescent gas lamps which are ignited electrically, the ignition of the gas is facilitated by placing between each burner aud the gas cock a tubular valve or regulator a<1>, Fig. 3, which is so weighted that it closes, when the cook is turned off, before all the gas has escaped from the connecting-pipes. The electric current to the igniting-devices and the gas supply to the burners may be simultaneously controlled by forming the gas cock, Fig. 4, with a projection a<1> which closes the contact-piece b<1> when the cock is actuated.
