Abstract
20,176. Lindecker, C. H. Oct. 22, 1904, [date applied for under Patents Act, 1901]. Motor road vehicles.-Relates to a method of mounting a vehicle on six wheels so that they may always touch the ground, and that the load may be distributed in a constant manner on the axles. The end axles are carried by springs 3, Fig. 2, the outer ends of which support the frame. The inner ends of the springs are connected to rigid beams 4, which at the inner ends are articulated to the middle axle. Springs 5, attached to the frame, are linked as shown at 6 to the middle of the beams 4, or may be attached directly to the beams, in which case the latter may be connected to the middle axle by slideways or slots, or by suspending-links. Instead of leaf springs 5, as shown, each beam may have a separate spiral, Belleville, or other spring interposed between it and the frame or the middle axle. The middle axle is guided in a suitable slideway 8, or by a link 9 as shown in Fig. 4. When the springs of the outer axles are linked to the frame, these axles may also work in guides. In a modification, the beams may be replaced by leaf springs 4, Fig. 4, their inner ends bearing on the middle axle so as to slide on it, and the outer springs 3 being articulated directly to the frame.
