Telephone systems.-Relates to a telephone call register, placed at the subscriber's station, in which a subscriber records his call at the operator's request, and at the same time actuates a sound-producer so that the operator may know that the call has been registered. Fig. 2 is a plan view of the register, and Fig. 5 a section showing the soundproducing arrangements. The operating-lever 6, Figs. 2 and 3, carries a pawl 8 engaging notches 9 in the disk 10 so that each time the lever is depressed the disk 10 is turned through quarter of a revolution. As soon as the lever 6 is turned from its normal position, the pawl 12, Figs. 3 and 5, rises out of its notch 9 and causes the pin 13 to engage the arm 14 so as to rock the shaft 15 and escapement pawl 16 to lock the toothed wheel 17. This wheel 17 is mounted loosely on a shaft 29, but is connected to the disk 10 bv a spring 19 engaging pins 21, 21<a>, Fig. 2, on the wheel 17 and the disk 10 respectively. During the movement of the lever 6, the wheel 17 remains locked and the spring 19 is put in tension. When the next notch 9 reaches the pawl 12, the pin 13 releases the arm 14 and pawl 16 so that the spring 19 rotates the wheel 17 and vibrates the escapement pawl 16 and the shaft 15, thus causing the arm 18, fixed to the shaft 15, to make and break the contact 45, 47 and thus send to the exchange a rapid succession of currents, which produce the desired sound. During the movement of the wheel 17, one of the studs 22, Fig. 2, engages the arm 23 so as to move the wheel 28 of the counting - mechanism one step forward. This mechanism is enclosed between plates 1, 2, and comprises long and short hands and toothed gearing.
