Penwipers; blotting-appliances; pen-extractors.- Relates to a penwiper made of small sheets of blotting - paper, leather, cloth, &c., so cut that grooves are presented against which the pen can be wiped. Fig. 3 shows a blotter combined with a penwiper, the sheets a<1>, notched at b<1>, being located in a recess d and pressed together simultaneously with the blotting-paper h by the plate f and knob g. By pushing the pen-nib into one of the grooves b<1> and tightening the knob g, the nib may be removed from its holder. The sheets of material may be united in any manner, and may be secured in any suitable holder; the grooves also may be of any suitable cross-section. In one form, the strips of material are secured in a dish so that their notches coincide to form a series of horizontal grooves. Instead of the sheets being notched, separate groups of sheets may be used, the gaps between the groups forming grooves as before.
