Advertising.-Relates to improvements in that type of apparatus in which advertisement bands are attached to laths carried by endless chains, which pass over sprocket-wheels on the winding- rollers, which receive an intermittent motion from a driving-shaft by means of endless chains passing over loose sprocket-wheels and carrying cross-bars to engage and drive a fast wheel between the loose sprocket-wheels. By this invention, the ends of the rods Q which carry the advertisement bands B are flattened at P', Fig. 5, and fit into slots P in endless bands N, being secured in position by bolts or pins engaging holes P<3>. The holes and slots are formed throughout the length of the bands N. The loose wheels E, E<1>, and the fast wheel J for giving the intermittent motion are carried on the axle of the roller C. In order to prevent overwinding, a ratchet-wheel S, Fig. 4, is provided, which is normally locked by a pivoted catch R. This catch R is held out of engagement with the ratchet-wheel during the time that the cross-bars L, carried by the chains F, F<1>, are driving the wheel J by a strip or projection upon the chain which lifts a pin T upon the catch R, the catch being allowed to drop and lock the wheel S when the driving-bars L have passed the wheel J. The Provisional Specification states that the rods Q may be carried by bearings attached to endless chains gearing into sprocket-wheels carried by the rollers.
