13,812. Imray, O., [International Textbook Co.]. July 4. Phonographs.-Relates to a device for locating the position of any word or phrase upon a phonographic record so that any word or phrase may be repeated at will without repeating the record from the beginning, the invention being adapted for use in teaching languages &c. The speaker-arm lifterbar 4, Fig. 3, is provided with teeth 7 to engage teeth 8 on the speaker-arm 2 so as to set the speaker to repeat that which has just been spoken before the thumb-lever 6 was depressed to raise the speaker. The index scale 9 is detachably secured to the journal rod 11 of the lifter-bar 4, and is provided with indications A ... U to position the speaker-arm. The index-scale 9 may have a pointer 14 which for accurate adjustment will be brought into coincidence with the commencement of the record. The guide or lexicon of the language gives all the words, with an indication of the number of the cylinder which contains them, index letters A ... U denoting the position on that cylinder.
