Abstract

Motor road vehicles.-Relates to means for preventing skidding of motor-cars when the motion of the vehicle is checked or its direction abruptly changed. Fig. 3 shows a plan of the arrangement in which toothed sectors i, fixed to the swivelling axles, concentrically with the pivots d, are engaged by pinions n loosely mounted on axes carried by brackets j fixed to the frame or to the top parts of the springs g. The direction of the axes is such that they would, if prolonged, cross each other at a point in the middle of the rear axle. The effect of changing the direction of the vehicle abruptly, or of checking its motion when the weight is not symmetrically divided over the two sides of the longitudinal axis of the car, is to incline the frame relatively to the front axle, so that the pinion on the side depressed binds in its sector, thereby locking the steering - wheels against steering movements, so as to prevent side-slipping.
