Boring and drilling; lathes; screwing.-In a portable drilling, screwing, and turning tool, which may be fixed by a lug to the work-bench &c., the work is held in a self-centring chuck 3, Fig. 1. A hollow spindle 7 is journalled in a screwed sleeve 6 working in the upper portion 5 of the casing of the tool. The spindle is provided with keys 22 which engage a keyway on a reversible tool-holder 23, Fig. 5, which carries screwing-dies at one end and a drill at the other. When the tool is used for turning, the spindle 7 carries at its lower end a tool-holder 8 with cutters 9 working in spiral slots 14, Fig. 4. To regulate the feed of the spindle 7, a ring carrying the crank handle 11 and fixed to the spindle carries a stud 19, on which is mounted a pinion wheel 18 between friction washers adjusted by a screw 20. A number of radial pins 21 fitted on the sleeve 6 engage the teeth of the pinion.
