Abstract
26,676. Leeson, G. W. T. Dec. 7. India-rubber, vulcanizing.-In an apparatus for vulcanizing india-rubber tyres, covers, or air tubes, an annular chamber E, contained within annular walls A, B and closed by a segmental or other cover plate F, is heated from below by a ring burner H or other means. Division plates K serve to hold the tyre central in the chamber E and, with a segmental burner, for local vulcanizations, for which purpose the space U between the walls A is divided by fixed or adjustable plates. Any type of expanding mandrel may be used, a suitable form being shown in Fig. 4. Swing clamps secure the cover F in position and are also used for operating on air tubes on the flat ; or a concave surface, having a recess to take the inflating-valve, may be provided.
