Abstract

22,306. Cooks, H. W. Oct. 17. Traps for rats, mice, &c. are formed of a circular or polygonal case a, divided into chambers by radial partitions a<1>, into each of which chambers a box b fits loosely. Each box b is open in front, and is fitted at the back with bars b<1>, so that the animal may view the bait in the central space e. Each box b rests on a strip of wood d, and in the set position is tilted forwards as shown on the lefthand side of Fig. 1, the upper edge of the box supporting a sliding door by the knob c'. When the animal presses upon the back of the box, it tilts the box backwards, thereby releasing the sliding door c. A cover a<3>, which is hinged to allow of the removal of the boxes b, may be provided.
