Abstract

20,561. Elektrizitõts Akt.-Ges. vorm. W. Lahmeyer & Co. Oct. 21, A.D. 1903, [date applied for under Patents Act, A.D. 1901]. Loading; lifts.-In apparatus for elevating and conveying loads, intended more especially for use in charging blast furnaces and the like, the load, carried in a truck &c., is raised by a lift to the bank, and the truck is there released and runs down an incline to the discharging point, whence the empty truck returns by another incline to the lift cage, which carries it down to the loading point again. The loaded truck w, on reaching the bank b, is allowed to run off the inclined cage rails f, on which it had been retained during the ascent, and descends the incline s. At the discharging point, the truck meets a buffing-truck p and pushes it back against the pull of a weight g to the discharging position, where it is retained by a catch. On the release of the catch, the truck p pushes the now empty truck over automatic points on to the incline s<1>, which takes it to the cage at a lower point in the shaft. In a modification, the truck w, after discharging, moves on in the same direction and returns to a cage by a loop. Where pairs of balancing cages are used, the guides S, S<1>, or, in the the case of inclined lifts, the rails, run together at the top, so that both cages serve the same top bank. Where two lifts are used, they may be connected at the top by bridges V, so that, by suitably inclining the rails f, the trucks may be run off to either discharging point.
