Abstract
18,441. Lake, H. H., [Belmont, H.]. Aug. 25. Coffee substitutes.-" Molasses fodder" or other saccharine fodder, such for example as that described in Specification No. 7148, A.D. 1892, [A bridgment Class Agricultural appliances, Farmyard, &c.], with or without the further addition of molasses, is roasted and used as a substitute for coffee. Such material may be made by mixing beet-root shavings or the like with molasses, and drying, roasting, and grinding the mixture. A preferred coffee substitute is obtained by adding molasses to a " molasses fodder " and then drying, roasting, and grinding the mixture.
