Abstract
14,092. Priestley, D., and Holmes, F. A. June 22. See-saws are constructed of seats a mounted on levers b, b<1> so arranged that the seats maintain their horizontal positions throughout their motions. The seats are mounted in pivotal bearings a', a<2>, and the levers are pivoted at centres c, c<1>. A tiebar d ensures one seat rising as the other descends, and the oscillation is assisted by springs f provided with rubber pads g. The four levers b, b<1> are, in a modification, mounted on two centres, and a flat spring may replace the spiral spring f. The seats may be shaped like animals.
