Abstract

13,864. British Thomson-Houston Co., [Allegemeine Elektricitõts-Ges.]. June 18. Armatures ; field magnets.-Relates to means, of the type described in Specification No. 7384, A.D. 1903, for securing windings on the rotor of a dynamo-electric machine. A tooth or rib c, Fig. 2, of the length of the rotor or in several longitudinal or cross sections as shown in Figs. 3 and 5, is fitted into one of the dovetailed grooves b formed in the solid iron or laminated core. The former-wound coil e is laid against it, and another tooth c is slipped into the adjacent groove so as to enclose it. In the form shown in Fig. 7, the coil is secured by a wedge g made in one or more parts and fitted into a dovetailed space between successive teeth. The teeth may also be secured by wedges k, Fig. 9, driven into slots cut below the dovetail grooves b, or by dovetailed ribs l, Fig. 10, driven into the grooves b. Some of the teeth and wedges are constructed of non-magnetic material, to avoid setting up magnetic fields.
