Abstract
1966. Hildebrandt, C. Jan. 26. Boot-sole stitching-machine ; presser-feet; feed ; guiding materials ; worksupports.-In order that an ordinary boot-sewing machine may be used for sewing the sole to the upper of a boot, a presser-foot f, which also serves as a feed-dog, and which is arranged only on one side of the needle, is provided with a lug a, behind which the needle passes as it descends. The lug a is guided by the boot upper, and to protect the latter from damage by the needle, the machine is provided with an adjustable, bent guide-bar s, the lower end of which is arranged on the opposite side of the needle to the lug a, as shown in Fig. 4. The bar s is attached to the head of the machine by a screw c, and by a screw d passing through a slot g in the bar, so that, by loosening the screw d, the bar can be adjusted, or turned upward and removed, if required. To prevent vibration of the workplate, the latter is supported on the forked end of, or on a pivoted holder at the end of, a rod t, which is hinged to the table or frame of the machine, so that it may be turned down or removed when not required.
