Abstract
28,362. Smalley, R. Dec. 24. Organs and like instruments; pianofortes.-An organ or like wind instrument is mounted on a pianoforte and played from the same keyboard, both being played at once, or either separately. Fig. 1 shows the arrangement, in which the key a actuates the hammer b, and, in the position shown, the plunger d also. A lever e rests on the top of this plunger, and is connected by the rod f to the finger g which rests on the organ key h. The plunger d is guided by the bars o, connected by the rods p, r to the organ stop s, and when the stop s is pushed in, the plunger d is disconnected from the key a. The piano may be thrown out of gear by a stop placed at one end of the keyboard. This stop actuates a lever which lifts the hammers out of action.
