27,923. Morgan Crucible Co., and Speirs, C. W. Dec. 19. Foundry ladles.-Relates to means for tipping or operating iron-foundry ladles and the like. The invention is described as applied to a crucible furnace i, Figs. 1 and 2. which is designed to be tipped upon an axis passsing transversely through the spout to permit of bringing the spout into close proximity to the mould and retaining it in one position during the pouring operation. A cover j and flue k are provided, which may be moved away when the furnace is to be lifted. The furnace is suspended from four ropes g, g<1>, two of which are attached to eyes or pins l situated on an axis passing through the spout m, while the other two embrace segments o, being attached to them at their lower ends, vertically below the pies l. The centres of the segments are on the line joining the pins l. The ropes g, g<1> are wound on drums f, f<1>, driven by separate electromotors h, h<1>. The motors and drums are mounted on a turntable, suspended from a carriage b, which is adapted to run upon a crane arm or traveller c. By raising the two back ropes g, or lowering the two front ropes g<1>, the furnace may be tilted about the line joining the pins l as shown in Fig. 3.
