Developing; fixing; washing; dark boxes.-Dark slides containing plates to be developed are placed in a box in which the plates are dropped into a dish, and developed, fixed, and washed. In the box, shown in section in Fig. 3, and in side elevation in Fig. 2, there are in the upper part, three compartments 18 to receive dark slides, one of which, 7, is shown in position. In order to develop the plates, a sliding door 40 at the bottom of the dark slide is pulled out by a rod 43. The two plates then drop into the developing-dish 26 below, being kept apart by a bent wire 31. The developing &c. solutions are introduced into the dishes from a small cistern 36, Fig. 1, connected to the dishes at 33 by flexible pipes 35. By raising or lowering this cistern, the solution is introduced or withdrawn irom the developing-dish.
