Thin metal flashings C are placed in the horizontal joints between the slabs to allow the building to vibrate. The interior is lined with matchboarding F supported by bars G; air spaces may be left between the bars G and blocks. Fig. 4 shows a corner construction. The cappings D, D<1> are creosoted or galvanized, and the wall plates protected by creosoted wood or galvanized iron cappings.
