Receipts, checking and recording.-In an autographic register combined with a till, the operation of opening the till sounds an alarm and rotates the circular disc upon which the record is made. The hinged lid B of the till A is shown thrown open in Fig. 3, and has at its centre a stud C upon which two discs E can revolve freely. The upper disc is small, and the lower one large and provided with a ratchet-wheel G, the circular recording-disc of paper, cardboard, celluloid or the like which is clamped between them having concentric circles which are displayed as cash columns through a suitable aperture in the lid. A padlock may be passed through the hole D in the upper end of the stud to prevent removal of the recording-disc. After recording, the till is opened by pressing in the knob H, whereby the projecting edge of the bolt I is carried free of a latch plate, and the spring L forces outwards the bolt J, so that its curved extremity r may press against the edge s and wedge the lid open. Simultaneously the pawl K rotates the ratchet-wheel G by one step and upon forcing the lid down both bolts are automatically returned.
