Abstract

16,470. Oldham, A. H. July 27. Double and single fabrics combined; reversible fabrics.- Fabrics known as dress or light goods or fancy materials are woven with alternate plain and tubular parts, either longitudinally o r laterally. Patterns are formed on the tubular parts either on one side or on both sides of the cloth by employing various coloured warps operated by dobby mechanism. Diagram 1 shows the drawing-in plan of the warps for producing a pattern on one side of the fabric. Seventeen healds are employed, and ends of the requisite number are drawn through healds 1, 2 for the production of the ground or plain parts, through healds 3, 4, 5, 6 for the production of the tubular portions, and through healds 7 .... 17 for the production of a floral pattern. Diagram 2 shows the tie-up for the dobby for thirty-six picks. Similar diagrams are given for a fabric having a twill on both sides.
