Games imitating football.-In an apparatus for playing an indoor game resembling Association football, flexible cords e of rubber, string, or other material, representing players, are stretched between an inclined wooden surface or table a, and arched standards d fitting into holes in top of side walls b. Instead of rubber &c., vertical cane bands, fastened to the table a, may be used, while both the table a and walls b may be made in two parts hinged together. Screens or nets l, arranged at either end of the table a, are provided with port holes m, through which are directed shooters 2 charged with marbles or the like. The latter are discharged against a light ball q, with the object of directing it into one or other of goals i, which are stayed by flexible cords y at either end of the table a, the cords e serving to impede the direct progress of the ball. The shooters, when not held by the player, are retained in their approximate position by elastic or other cords z. The marbles &c., after being fired, roll into channels on either side of the table a, and thence to one or other of collecting-trays r. Fig. 4 shows one of the shooters 2. When a spring- controlled plunger 6 is pulled back by a handle 4, the marbles pass singly from a magazine 8 into a barrel 3, and are projected from the latter when the handle is released. A spring catch 12 prevents the marbles from falling out when the barrel is depressed, but is forced backwards by the marble when discharged.
