Abstract

14,256. Howorth, F. W., [Dresdner Chromound Kunstdruckpapierfabrik Krause & Baumann]. June 27. Paper, drying.- The paper web a, which is coloured on both sides and moves upwards, is dried by a current of hot air under high pressure, introduced from a main feed-pipe and side pipes e, f, through upwardlyinclined slots c, in the walls of t h e drying shaft. The formation of creases is thus prevented, and the endless felt g, which receives the paper and conveys it further on, receives no moisture or colour. The hot air is exhausted by a fan through the pipes h, i, k, and is preferably heated and returned to the main feed-pipe.
