Abstract

5361. Seaman, D. B. March 7. Cameras ; printing ; dark slides.-Relates to a camera for taking a number of photographs on one plate, and to a printing-frame. The camera is shown in side view in Fig. 2. A large photographic plate, say 12 by 10," is placed in the dark slide 20, which is moved in the frame 22 after each photograph is taken. After a row of photographs has been taken across the plate, the frame 22 is moved one step on the guiding-board. 23 fixed to the back of the camera. A second row of photographs is then taken, as before. The principal photographic lens 1, mounted on a board with vertical and transverse adjustments, projects its image on to the plate through an aperture 9, while a smaller lens projects an image of a ticket with a number or the like, placed in the holder 7. The ticket is illuminated by an electric lamp. The camera is connected by a hinge to the baseboard, so that the dark slide can be set with its longer axis vertical or horizontal. The focussing-plate is mounted on the end of the dark slide 20, and is brought over the aperture 9 for focussing before exposures are made on the plate. The negative, after developing &c., is cut up into strips, each containing a row of pictures. One of these strips is then placed at 39 in the printing-frame shown in section in Fig. 13. The printing-paper f is mounted on a back 37, which is moved along step by step under the negative 39, after each printing. A sliding shutter 40 covers the number on the negative except in the initial position, when it is pulled back to expose the number by a cord 42 attached to the sliding frame 36. The printing-frame is hinged at 46 to a table, so that it can be turned into a vertical position for exposure and into a horizontal position for adjusting the paper-bolder.
