Abstract

190,229. Bullock, H. C. Sept. 13, 1921. Bore-hole apparatus.-A jar for use in boring wells &c., and comprising two links in engagement with each other, is formed from a bar of metal solely by parting and dividing operations. Spaced grooves 1 are formed around the periphery of the bar, as by forging, and pairs of grooves are connected by forming depressions 2; slots 3 are then formed through the bar, leaving projecting tongues 4, and central intersecting holes 5, 6 are drilled at right-angles to each other. Between the holes 5, 6 and one of the slots 3 two incisions are then made by making pairs of intersecting cuts 7, 8 and 9, 10, and between the holes 5 6 and the other slot 3, two similar incisions are made at right-angles to the first incisions. Specification 174,026 is referred to.
