Abstract
26,004. Kaye, H. Nov. 26. String holders.-A frame, consisting of a baseplate a and top plate b connected by rods or standards c, and adapted to be placed on a shelf or in some other convenient position, is fitted to receive a ball or bobbin of twine or string, to put tension on the thread while being drawn off, and to withdraw the end of the thread when cut. Mounted on a disc d secured to the base a, or mounted directly on the base, is a rod or hollow tube e screwed to the top to receive a nut f, which, through a spring h, serves to act as a brake on the base g mounted on the tube. The thread passes through a guide-loop, as shown, and between spring tension discs l, and thence through loops i which may be placed zig-zag, and finally passes through a loop p on a weight o sliding on the rods e, and through a loop r. When the thread is drawn off, the weight is lifted, and then when it is allowed to fall, it withdraws the end of the thread. Springs s are placed underneath to receive the weight. A bobbin, when used, may be mounted on horizontal bearings.
