Abstract

24,895. Liebert, H. A. E. Nov. 13. Sawing.-A hack-sawing machine is arranged to rotate the work slightly against the saw during each cut. The work d is snugly held in a vice b with inclined jaws c, which prevent the work from rising. During the cutting-stroke, the work is gripped between one or more pawls g and the V- shaped bottom of a yoke f, secured on the end of a bar e, and guided iu slots in the jaws. The bar e is suitably rocked, for instance by an inclined slot r in a bracket q, moving with the slide s, which carries the saw frame, the rocking movement effecting the rotation of the work during the cutting-stroke only. The work is supported on conical rollers w, Fig. 3, on a standard x, which tend to keep the work in contact with a stop y. The pawls g are carried by a slide i, adjustable on the yoke to suit the size of the work.
