Abstract
24,482. Gatecliff, J. Nov. 8. Filtering foul waters; settling. - A central settling-tank A, Fig. 1, surrounded by a second tank E and provided with helicoidal depositing- surfaces or blades B, as described in Specification No. 20,205, A.D. 1900, is used in conjunction with filters D, G for filtering or purifying wool-washing or other trade effluents. The filtering-medium, such as coke breeze, is contained between perforated plates D<1>, D', G', G<2>, the sludge &c. is drawn cff through valves H, H<1>, H<2>, and the tank E is preferably divided. The wool suds &c. are passed down the pipe C, where a reagent solution is mixed with them, over the blades B in the tank A, through the filter D, down pipes F to the perforated pipe or pipes K, and up through the tank E and filter G, and escape through pipes J.
