Abstract
16,657. Parry, H. T. B. July 28. Filing papers.-In an arrangement for binding music and other sheets, covers A of cardboard are employed, and within the hinge part is a piece of wood B of semicircular section. The wood has a longitudinal groove, as shown in Fig. 5. A metal plate C, Fig. 6, bent so as to have an overhanging edge D, Fig. 3, is placed in each end of the longitudinal groove. A series of thin metal bars F are pivoted to a crossbar G near one end of the groove. The other ends of the bars have notches H which engage the overhanging edge D. The bars are placed between the pages of the music, and are secured by twisting their lower ends and introducing them behind the edge D. The bars then spring into position, the notches engaging with the edge D. They are released by twisting the lower ends and springing the bars slightly. A dovetailed recess offers lodgment for the finger-nail in springing the bar. India-rubber may be placed behind the ends of the bars, to prevent them from being accidentally dislodged from the edge D.
