Obstruction-removers.-An obstruction-remover for tramcars or the like is formed by a pair of rollers or brushes b, b, Fig. 2, arranged preferably at an acute angle to one another and rotated in an opposite direction to the wheels m of the vehicle. The inner ends of the rollers are carried by a T-piece fixed to the platform and fitted with a buffer c ; the outer ends are carried by protective side frames a, a, and are driven by bevel gearing o, p from a shaft f, which is driven from the axle l by chain gearing or from the wheels m by friction gearing h, i. The rollers are fitted with a number of spring arms s, Fig. 4, and may also have a number of bristles t extending beyond the arms s so as to throw off light obstructions. Springs may be fitted to the front of the platform g, Fig. 5, to press upon the roller b and prevent obstructions from getting over the top of the roller. A stretched cloth may be used for the same purpose. The two rollers may be arranged in a line transverse to the vehicle, so as to constitute one roller.
