Abstract
14,354. Savory, T. A. June 25. Rails, overhead, for carcases and heavy goods.-Relates to overhead trolley ways, such, for instance, as used in meat markets for carrying carcases. According to the first part of the invention, the track is composed of two parallel rails a, Fig. 1, separated by distance-pieces c, in which are fixed the hangers adjustably secured as at d' to a girder bracket &c. The trolley is of U-shape, embracing the two rails, and has two wheels g one for each rail. The second part of the invention relates to switches. Fig. 5 shows the application to a single junction. The switches, which consist of hinged rail sections k, l, are operated through balanced levers m and cords o<3>, q<3> from levers o<2>, q<2> pivoted so as to hang between the rails and carrying pawl-like ends o, q adapted to be engaged by a part of the trolley. This part s<2>, which is formed on the load-carrying hook, is forked, and, according as the load, and therefore the hook, is turned to one position or the other, Figs. 6 or 7, engages the narrow pawl q or the forked pawl o, thus closing the switch l or the switch k. The application to a double junction is similar. By connecting the two levers o<2>, q' together, e.g. by a link b, the invention can be applied to the Maxwell switch either for double or for single rails.
