11,185. Rein, J. May 15. Chimneys, cleaning.-Relates to means for closing chimneys to enable them to be swept without interrupting the draught, and is especially applicable to combined chimneys. For this purpose the auxiliary chimney 2 is normally closed by a pivoted flap 6 provided with a double counterweight 7, 10. The flap swings up and down to allow of the passage of the broom, but from either position it is, when free, returned to the closed position by the counterweight acting in conjunction with suitable stops.
