23,633. Dow, W. S., and Smith, E. J. Nov. 21. Delivery apparatus.-Relates to means for delivering sheets or papers in counted batches from printing-machines. The papers passing from the printing and folding cylinders B, C are deflected by the guide D to the guide E, the curved surface of the latter deflecting them on to an intermittently - rotated receiver H. This receiver consists of arms or fingers H fixed on a star-shaped hub or huhs on a shaft F<1>, the sides G of the star hubs being at rightangles to the fingers H, so that the papers are delivered in squared batches. When the required number has been collected, the receiver is rotated, to deposit the batch on tapes O, and to bring another set of the fingers H into receiving position. The receiver is rotated by a ratchet-wheel F engaged by a pawl on an arm N connected by a rod M to an arm L' rocked in one direction by an arm J<2> and snail cam J, and in the ohber by a spring rod T. An arm L<11> on the shaft of the arm L' has a segmental rack gearing with a pinion Q having a pawl engaging a ratchet on the shaft of the pulleys P of the tapes O. The tapes are thus driven slowly while the receiver is collecting a batch, and remain at rest while each batch is delivered on to them.
