Abstract

21,096. Cawdery, J. W. Oct. 21. Railways for recreation.-Relates to switchback or gravity railways of the form described in Specification No. 2908, A.D. 1894. Fig. 2 shows an end view of the track with a horseshaped vehicle mounted thereon. The vehicle is provided with two pairs of flanged wheels D, which run on rails formed by the edges of a channel-shaped *bar C mounted on timber supports A. Arms e extending downwards carry rollers e', which bear on lateral rails H fixed to the supports. The axles of one or both pairs of wheels D are mounted in slots to allow the vehicle to travel round curves. When the vehicle is horseshaped, the arms e extend down the legs, the legs on the inner side of the curve being arranged to converge at the lower end.
