Abstract
3297. Boult, A. J., [Soc. LumiÞre Boule]. Feb. 15. Regulators. - Relates to automatic means for counteracting excess or variable pressure in the gas-supply mains employed for lighting purposes, in cases where the burners are fed with gas kept under constant high pressure by a compressor. The gas enters by a pipe b and a valve c. and is forced by the compressor a past the valve h to the high-pressure reservoir g, from which the burners are supplied. Whenever the pressure in the latter exceeds a certain limit, a high-pressure valve opens, allowing gas to pass by the branch circuit d, in which is included a reservoir e, back to the entry pipe between the valve c and the compressor. The pressure thereupon closes, wholly or partly, the valve c, and the compressor will continue to draw gas from the pipe d until the pressure in the reservoir g again falls.
