The feed-hopper A, Figs. 1 and 6, has adjustable plates 3 for breaking up the flow of the material, and is fitted with a shut-off gate 6 actuated by a balanced discharge scoop 9, which tilts over and closes the shut-off gate if it becomes clogged with the material. A twochambered receptacle B has a central partition and oscillating plate F, which is connected by links I to the doors G, G<1> of the receptacle, and directs the material into one or other chamber of the receptacle. The receptacle is supported from the bifurcated end of the beam D. The knife-edge bearings are formed on the ends of tapered steel pins, or the knife-edges 16 may be inserted in sleeves 13, Fig. 6, supported in split arms 7. The doors G, G<1> carry a frame J<1>, shown in dotted lines. The upper curved bar of the frame has end notches, with which the end of a pivoted lever L can engage, so that the gates are locked in position, and the material is directed into the closed chamber of the receptacle, until the beam tilts slightly, when the locking- device is released, and the receptacle discharges and brings the other chamber into use. A registering-device a records the number of weighings. In a modification, Fig. 7, adapted for use in packeting, a carrier 15<1> on the beam carries a frame 16<1> which supports the scale-pans 19, which are charged alternately from the shoot A. The shoot has an oscillating door F connected by a link I<1> to the frame 16', which also carries an arm J supporting the notched locking-plate J<1>.
