Abstract
11,503. Hudson, W. M. June 25. Eccentrics, combined with governors. Relates to a combined power-transmission and centrifugal device by which a variable-throw eccentric is adjusted under the joint influence of the centrifugal and dynamometric actions. Fig. 1 shows a front elevation and Fig. 2 a transverse section through one form of the apparatus. The driving- shaft A transmits motion to the shaft B through the drum a on the shaft A, linkage c, d, and the arms e on the shaft B, the arms e being connected to the drum by springs f, f<1> as well as by the links. The links are loaded with centrifugal weights d<2>, so that the angular relation between the two shafts depends in part on the transmission forces and in part on the centrifugal action. In the example shown, alteration of the relative angular positions of the two shafts effects an adjustment of the position of the eccentric g.
