Abstract

9819. Reeves, R. H. May 29. Sewage filters.-The effluent from a sewage precipitating-tank, or effluents from sewage treated by any known processes, are conveyed by pipes to a series of nozzles E, of the kind described in Specification No. 9566, A.D. 1897, [Abridgment Class Sewage &c.]. These nozzles are situated above the sand or other filtering-medium F of a filter tank, and serve to deliver the liquid in a very finely divided state for facilitating aÙration and oxidation. Sulpbate of iron or other reagent may be mixed with the effluent before entering the filtering-tank. The filtered liquid passes along drain pipes G to an outlet H.
