Stone, artificial.-Crushed marble chips, of a colour resembling the granite to be imitated, are mixed with Portland cement, coloured or otherwise, and the mixture is moolded under pressure in metal moulds while damp or slightly moist. The block of artificial stone thus formed is placed in water for about three days, and is then allowed to harden. It is finally rubbed and polished in the same manner as marble.
