Gelatine.-Iodo-tannin-gelatine compounds, which are tasteless and are valuable internal remedies, are produced by precipitating iodo-tannin solutions by means of gelatine. The process is carried out by mixing an alcoholic solution of iodine with an aqueous solution of tannin, or by adding solid tannin to an alcoholic solution of iodine, or iodine to an aqueous solution of tannin, and then adding gelatine solution. The precipitate, after standing, is filtered off, and dried at the ordinary temperature. An example is given in which a product containing 22 5 per cent. of iodine is obtained.
